Francis Picabia, (1879-1953 French) was French Painter, writer, filmmaker, magazine publisher and poet. As an artist, he moved from Impressionism, Dadaism. Abstract, Surrealism and back to Realism. He practised with as many mediums of art. He also experimented on different approaches and unorthodox materials.

Picabia, believed> ‘If you want to have clean ideas, change them like shirts.’ ‘These transparencies, with their pockets of obscurity, allowed me to express my innermost desires’.

His early works consist of architectural scapes and buildings. He worked with impressionistic strokes and pointillisme. At the same time he produced many portraits from unusual angels and daring expressions. He also worked in cubist dadaist modern art.

Few such experiments included, Transparent arts, between 1929-1932. The composition used selective overlap and involved responses, between solid objects as well as live beings. The overlaps imply and express very intense meaning. He exploits the multiple layered overlapping of form, colour, and texture, to discover the third dimension in the space of painting. His compositions are cent re-focused and do not rely on the side or background elements, but he leaves out several pockets of unexplained. These creations were pioneering works of the era.
