Valdemar Kornerup (1865-1924) was a Danish Painter of Interior spaces. He was the son of a skilled lithographer, who initiated him in the Art field. He, during, 1881-85, worked at the Academy of Arts. He, in 1887, made a debut at Charlottenborg, with two pictures. Kornerup, in 1898, studied in Norway, where he mainly stayed. He travelled in France and Italy, in 1890, he was in Italy, Spain and Greece and in 1895 again in Italy.
He was acknowledged as one of the last great folk life painters in Denmark. Even when the painting styles were changing across Europe, he continued to paint on Danish old school Art that idealized, romanticized and celebrated the simple homely interiors.
