Harald Oscar Sohlberg (1869-1935) was Norway’s greatest landscape painter. He is known for Modernist Neo Romantic style. He studied at the Royal School of Art and Design of Christiania. He later trained under the graphic artist and painter Johan Nordhagen. Sohlberg also attended the Art School of Kristian Zahrtmann in Copenhagen.

Sohlberg painted Nordic landscapes of wildness and mountains of Rondane. The town of Røros, in spite of the industrialized surroundings, was depicted for its natural scapes and wood buildings. He created mood and mystery with midwinter lights and twilight of Scandinavia. His paintings reflect the original manner of using colours. He combines elements of Romanticism, Naturalism and Symbolism in his Art.
