Everhardus Koster (1817-1892) was a Dutch Painter. He is known for the beach, coastal areas, of the sea and rivers. He also painted cityscapes and few brilliant landscapes. He studied art under B J van Hove at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. He then went to Frankfurt, where he improved his skills by copying Old Masters at the Städel and studying at the Städelschule. After his studies he worked in Amsterdam.

Koster was a master of composition and he skillfully rendered pieces in various media including ink, water colour and oil. His style was between Romanticism and the Hague School. The Hague School of artists, presented scapes conveying the atmosphere rather then sheer topographic elements.

Giovanni Boldini (1842-1931) was a well-known Italian artist. He lived mainly in Paris. Boldini received his initial training from his father, a painter and restorer. He also attended the Accademia di Belle Arti (Academy of Fine Arts) in Florence.

Boldini was a celebrated portrait artist. He also painted women engaged in their leisure and other chores, surrounded by rich interiors and in a romantic manner. This and other paintings give off a sense of realism combined with subtle abstract quality.

Boldini came in touch with Edgar Degas and John Singer Sargent. He soon began to paint in his own style, with Impressionist colours and Realists topics. With the turn of a century he began experimenting with abstract effects. He painted architecture with rich Interior and Exteriors.

Boldini was known for fast and flowing brushstrokes, with rich colours. For this technique, he was called Master of Swish.
