Herbert Menzies Marshall (1841-1913) was of Yorkshire, England. He studied Architecture, and became an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1868. He, however, became a Painter and Illustrator. He was also a cricketer, batsmen who played mostly for Cambridge University.
He was a member of the Royal Water colour Society (RWS) and Royal Society of Painters and Etchers. He was an urban landscape painter, mainly in London area. He illustrated several books, In 1904, he was appointed Professor of Landscape Painting at Queen's College, London.
He worked with Water Colours. His landscapes include atmospheric effects of the morning twilight zone.
