Etienne Bouhot (1780-1862) was a French Painter and an art teacher. He has captured street scenes, gardens, suburbs of Paris well finished in details, with great deal of reality. The paintings show unexpected perspectives from unusual vantage points. He included people in the scenes but his images of everyday life remain utterly unsentimental, often lifeless. He has used arch forms and squared lintels to frame views and used people to scale the depth. His capacity to capture short and long depths in the scenes is amazingly equal.
