PAUL GUSTAVE FISCHER

 Paul Gustave Fischer

SUNDAY feature on ART of Architecture by Gautam Shah

Post -368

Paul Gustave Fischer (1860-1934) was from Copenhagen, Denmark. The family originally came from Poland. Fischer began to paint at a young age, guided by his father.

He has painted immense number of subjects from landscapes, portraits, human beings, beach scenes and nudes, in oil and watercolour. But he was famous for his simple views of streets with everyday life of Scandinavia, Italy and Germany.

His portrayal of human beings on beaches, streets, or as figurative art were natural. In the beginning the scenes were set in overcast winter weather with darker tones, but after a stay in Paris from 1891–1895, his colours became warm and light. He has drawn scenes in all weathers, snow, rains and lighting conditions overcast, sunny and late evening twilight.
