SUNDAY Feature on ART of Architecture -by Gautam Shah

.

Adolf Kaufmann (1848-1916) was an Austrian artist. He was known for his landscape, harbours and sail boats paintings. He began art practice without a formal education, but was a good observer as well as learner. Later, he had some training with animal painter Émile van Marcke, in Paris. He became a member of Vienna’s Academy of Fine Arts and Künstlerhaus. He made several study trips through Europe and the middle East.

He absorbed styles from the art-surroundings, typically, the landscapes were influenced by the Barbizon School artists. He used intense tones to present forests, trees, creeks and small ponds. He painted forest scenes in variety of seasonal splendour. His scenic depictions included architectural entities as well as natural elements.
