SUNDAY Feature on ART of Architecture

.

Richard Parkes Bonington (1802-1828) was an English Romantic landscape painter. He moved to France at the age of 14, and can be called a French artist. He lived a very short life of 26 years. In an actual working of less than a decade, he produced a huge amount of work. He brought the water-colour movement to Europe.

His landscapes were mostly of coastal scenes, with docks, beaches, with a low horizon and emphasis on quality of illumination. The large skies were filled with massive cloud which gives an enveloping effect to the composition. He sketched in the suburbs and countryside around Paris.
