.SUNDAY Feature on ART of Architecture
Jasper Francis Cropsey (1823-1900) was an American landscape artist of the second generation of Hudson River School. At a young age Jasper had a diploma from the Mechanics’ Institute with drawing skills. It enabled him to enroll as an apprentice in an architect office. He had a passion for making architectural and landscape sketches. Jasper’s artistic skills became sharper due to the habit of drawing and copying everything.
His main interest remained Architecture and Landscape paintings, and that strongly affected his art. His works show neat and bold compositions. He had a liking of the autumn season as it allowed bold and vivid use of colours.
