Wilhelm Schubert van Ehrenberg, was Antwerp based (1630 -1676) Flemish Painter. He specialized in architectural paintings, including of real and imaginary church interiors, Renaissance palaces and picture galleries.

Wilhelm mainly worked during 1960-1970. He collaborated with his contemporary artists to add human and animal figures. This was a common practice in 17th C Antwerp.

Wilhelm was a romantic person, who loved to play with light and shade. He had a natural sense of entwining architectural elements to form complex imaginary Capriccio art compositions. He liked Baroque architectural spaces, but in a form gar more conservative, than his other contemporary artists.

Wilhelm created several ‘Gallery paintings’, as was fashionable in the era, depicting showing paintings, artefact scientific instruments and natural specimens.
